Senior DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Brazil (Remote)
Role Overview:
Sphise is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with extensive AWS and IaaC experience. This is the first role in our new DevOps group, and this person will be responsible for transitioning all of the current processes from Development to DevOps. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of supporting production PHP/JS/MySQL environments, ideally environments that utilize Laravel. You will establish, maintain, and execute organizational policies and procedures for change management, configuration management, release and deployment management, service monitoring, support, and problem management.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and manage the CI/CD pipeline and ensure software builds, packages, and deploys to production during non-business US hours.
- Create and deploy a true IaaC environment for all DevOps and infrastructure operations using Terraform, Ansible, or other similar tools.
- Collaborate with Development management to determine the best cloud architecture to support the application.
- Gather, challenge, clarify, and document technical requirements coming from the development team.
- Participate in the production readiness meetings for all software releases.
- Develop processes to automate DevOps functions, source code checking with continuous integration, automated test tool configuration, application topology configuration, automated deployment, and proactive environment monitoring & management.
- Must exhibit a high-level end-to-end understanding of web application design, construction, testing, deployment, and delivery.
- Create and implement the DevOps roadmap and measure success via key performance indicators agreed with management.
- Gather product & business requirements, gut check new ideas and proposals, balance tech-debt and delivery of product functionality.
- Ensure the production SaaS environment is managed, supported, and controlled with the appropriate level of governance and agility.
- Establish and maintain test environments in AWS.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of PHP and PHP-based web frameworks, ideally Laravel.
- Extensive experience with AWS, particularly EC2 (Load Balancer, Ubuntu VMs), RDS (MySQL 5.7), Elasticache (Redis), Route 53, Terraform, Ansible, etc.
- Experience with Google Cloud is a big plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and execute with efficiency.

- You can provide clear verbal and written communication across various cross-functional teams.
