About the Role

At KEV, our engineering teams build and operate mission‑critical SaaS platforms that support more than 27,000 K12 schools and over 1 million users across North America. Our systems process and manage high volumes of financial transactions every day, operating at scale in a domain where reliability, security, and correctness are non‑negotiable. We are hiring DevOps engineers to help design, evolve, and scale the core systems that power KEV’s financial platform. In this role you will work across frontend and backend services to deliver secure, high‑performance software that supports complex financial workflows. You will contribute to architectural decisions, system design, and platform evolution as KEV continues to grow.

Responsibilities

Enable Reliable Application Deployments

Work closely with development teams to understand project requirements and manage application builds across environments, ensuring smooth, timely, and low‑risk releases. Maintain clear environment alignment to support predictable deployment outcomes.

Environment Architecture & Configuration Management

Create and maintain detailed environment diagrams for each application, ensuring correct configuration, system integration, and consistency across development, staging, and production environments.

Automation & Infrastructure as Code

Apply automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to improve deployment reliability, reduce manual intervention, and minimize downtime across releases.

Release Pipeline Governance (Azure DevOps)

Oversee and manage release pipelines in Azure DevOps, including monitoring builds, approving releases, tracking version integrity, and ensuring compliance with operational standards.

Operational Excellence & Post‑Deployment Support

Provide ongoing support after deployment by troubleshooting production issues, gathering feedback, and implementing improvements to enhance application stability and performance. Participate in incident response and on‑call rotations to ensure rapid resolution.

Infrastructure Optimization

Research, plan, and implement infrastructure enhancements such as server configurations, load balancing, and proxy setups to improve system performance and scalability.

Documentation & Process Discipline

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for deployments, configuration changes, and troubleshooting processes to ensure transparency, auditability, and effective cross‑team communication.

Incident & Project Management

Lead and coordinate projects and incident investigations through an IT ticketing system, partnering with development and support teams to drive timely and structured resolutions.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in application support with a strong background utilizing DevOps practices, particularly within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and Azure DevOps.
  • Post‑secondary degree, diploma, or equivalent technical certification in a relevant field. Microsoft Certifications are a strong asset.
  • Prior experience in SaaS support and delivery, with a focus on both IaaS and PaaS solutions within Azure environments using Azure DevOps, Octopus, etc.
  • Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly as it relates to configuring and managing Azure‑based systems with ARM, Bicep and/or Terraform.
  • Solid understanding of security principles in complex ecosystems and proficiency with debugging and diagnostic tools to resolve application issues effectively.
  • Ability to automate common tasks with PowerShell, PowerAutomate, Azure Functions.
  • Experience managing traditional server‑based environments, including SFTP, IIS and SQL Server, as well as supporting third‑party and in‑house applications.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear and effective collaboration with developers, management, and technical teams.
  • Configuration hardening against standards such as NIST, STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, etc.
  • Working in a regulated environment like PCI, SOC II, ISO27001, HIPAA, HITRUST, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving application issues.

Salary Range – $100,000–150,000

Note: We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
