Insight Global is seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails /.NET Developer to join a growing application development team responsible for designing, developing, and supporting critical enterprise applications. This team recently completed a major platform modernization initiative and is focused on enhancing application functionality, scalability, and performance while driving best practices in software engineering. This is a hands-on development role where the successful candidate will collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using Ruby on Rails and/or .NET technologies
- Build scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications and APIs
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, and architects to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Participate in application design, code reviews, and technical decision-making
- Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
- Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance issues, and production incidents
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software development best practices
- Support CI/CD processes and contribute to automated testing and deployment strategies
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to improve application reliability and scalability
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, refinements, and retrospectives
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of software development experience with Ruby on Rails and/or Microsoft .NET technologies (.NET Core, C#, ASP.NET)
- Strong experience designing and developing web applications, APIs, and backend services
- Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns
- Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure
- Experience with source control systems, preferably Git
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization skills
- Experience working within Agile software development teams
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with both Ruby on Rails and .NET development environments
- Experience building microservices and distributed systems
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized application development
- Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code practices
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or Datadog
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale applications in financial services or highly regulated environments
Pay rate: 56-61/hr INC
