EHS Engineer

Description

We are seeking an experienced EHS Engineer to lead and support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives while ensuring compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), promoting a strong safety culture, reducing environmental impact, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.

The EHS Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a safe workplace, regulatory compliance, environmental sustainability, and the prevention of workplace incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) laws, regulations, and company standards.
  • Identify and evaluate legal requirements applicable to company operations and develop strategies to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and procedures.
  • Coordinate and maintain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, including internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage environmental permits, regulatory reporting, and government inspections.
  • Coordinate with government agencies such as STPS, SEMARNAT, PROFEPA, COFEPRIS, Health Authorities, and other regulatory organizations as required.
  • Develop and monitor EHS performance indicators (KPIs) and provide reports to management.
  • Plan and manage departmental priorities, projects, and resources to achieve EHS objectives.
  • Promote environmental sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, recycling, reuse, and proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all organizational levels.
  • Lead emergency preparedness activities, including emergency response planning and evacuation drills.
  • Support accident prevention programs, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper chemical management and compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
  • Support Occupational Health programs and ensure compliance with applicable health regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

More About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Internal Auditor certification for ISO 14001 is preferred.
  • Experience managing regulatory inspections and government procedures.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with experience delivering employee training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Intermediate English proficiency (approximately 60% or higher).
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • AutoCAD knowledge is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid U.S. Visa preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
