EHS Manager

The EHS Manager is responsible for overseeing and continuously improving the environmental, health, and safety programs across Chase Corporation's Pittsburgh, PA facilities. This role ensures regulatory compliance, promotes a strong safety culture, and leads the implementation of EHS initiatives across the region. This is a multi-site role that requires strong collaboration with internal teams and external regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
    • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state environmental regulations, including hazardous waste, air emissions, stormwater, USTs, and DOT requirements.
    • Conduct routine audits, risk assessments, and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Manage required EHS reporting, permitting, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Training & Safety Culture
    • Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including in-person sessions to supplement online modules.
    • Support a culture of safety through initiatives such as incident tracking, safety observations, and incentive programs (e.g., safety bingo).
    • Ensure all mandatory safety and environmental training is completed and documented.
  • Project Management & Continuous Improvement
    • Lead the implementation and tracking of EHS projects and corrective actions across all assigned sites.
    • Identify and execute safety and environmental improvement initiatives, aligning with corporate objectives.
    • Engage with employees at all levels to reinforce a proactive, compliance-driven safety culture.
  • Communication & External Engagement
    • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, handling both written and verbal communications.
    • Collaborate with plant leadership and corporate EHS to align on goals, share best practices, and ensure program consistency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards and practical experience applying them in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong background in chemical safety, environmental compliance, and hazardous materials management.
  • Excellent consultative, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain strong follow-through.
  • EHS certifications such as REM, ASP, or CSP are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related sciences required (Bachelor's preferred).
