Lead Electrical Engineer – Manufacturing & Automation

wAdvantage Technical is seeking a hands‑on Lead Electrical Engineer to support a growing manufacturing operation. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both technical, day‑to‑day problem‑solving and leading a team. The position offers a clear path toward Supervisor/Manager advancement, making it a strong fit for someone ready to step into leadership while still staying close to the equipment, controls, and systems
.You will serve as the site’s subject‑matter expert for PLC programming, automation, electrical systems, power distribution, and equipment reliability, while guiding technicians, electricians, and process engineers through troubleshooting and continuous improvement
.Key Responsibilitie
- sPLC & HMI Programming — Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs (Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000, PLC‑5, Safety PLCs)
- .Motion & Drive Systems — Configure and support VFDs, DC drives, servo systems, and high‑speed motion controls
- .System Architecture — Define system layouts, select components (PLCs, HMIs, sensors, safety hardware), and integrate plant‑wide controls
- .Equipment Support — Maintain electrical systems on production equipment including gauges, instrumentation, and data‑acquisition systems
- .Calibration & Documentation — Develop calibration procedures, update wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals using AutoCAD
- .Power Distribution — Ensure facility power distribution meets current and future manufacturing needs
- .Continuous Improvement — Recommend and oversee automation upgrades, process improvements, and cost‑reduction initiatives
- .Compliance & Safety — Work within NEC, OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, UL, and GMP standards; support electrical safety training and EH&S initiatives
- .LEAN & TPM — Apply LEAN tools such as 5S+1 and TPM across office and manufacturing areas
- .Team Leadership — Provide technical guidance to electricians, technicians, and process engineers; support troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis
- .Controls Backup & Versioning — Maintain updated PLC program backups on the plant network
