Job Description - Story Behind the Need
- The Hauling Application team is responsible for the overall onboard, vehicle-level solution for client autonomous haulage machines. This position will work under the direction of the System Integration Lead and contribute to the design, integration, and troubleshooting of autonomous haulage systems.
- Position Contributions
- The Embedded Software Engineer 2 will:
- Contribute to onboard system designs and technical decisions.
- Identify and evaluate potential technical solutions.
- Analyze the value, risks, and trade-offs associated with proposed changes.
- Break down system-level solutions into actionable delivery elements.
- Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve system-level issues.
- Design electronic and network architectures for the autonomy technology stack used across Caterpillar's hauling autonomy products.
- Document technical designs and coordinate delivery with partner teams.
- Collaborate with engineering, validation, platform, and other process teams to ensure successful implementation.

- Education & Experience
- Experience: 2 4 years
- Degree: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
- Internships Accepted: Yes.
- Comparable Backgrounds: Autonomy Engineer or similar roles involving autonomous systems, robotics, or system integration.
