Position Overview
we are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support the development, execution, and automation of Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) verification and validation activities for embedded control systems.
The selected candidate will work with embedded control software, Electronic Control Units (ECUs), dSPACE-based test environments, MATLAB/Simulink, automation frameworks, and laboratory test equipment. This role will focus on developing validation strategies, executing system-level tests, automating test activities, investigating defects, and troubleshooting hardware and software integration issues.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong experience in embedded systems testing, HIL/SIL validation, dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink, Python automation, C/C++, CAN/J1939 communication protocols, and ECU diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute HIL and SIL validation test plans for embedded control systems and ECUs.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain validation tests for embedded control software.
- Configure, operate, and troubleshoot dSPACE and Vector-based test benches and validation environments.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve test efficiency, repeatability, and test coverage.
- Develop tools for automated data collection, analysis, and validation reporting.
- Use Python, C++, gtest, and other automation frameworks to support embedded software verification activities.
- Perform system-level verification of embedded software and hardware integrations.
- Analyze software and system defects and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Troubleshoot complex software, hardware, ECU, and communication-related issues.
- Perform hardware setup and troubleshoot HIL/SIL test environments.
- Support diagnostics, fault injection, and validation reporting activities.
- Participate in technical discussions, defect reviews, validation planning, and engineering reviews.

Team Structure
The Embedded Software Engineer will be part of the Software Verification & Validation team supporting virtual validation, Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing for Caterpillar embedded control systems.

- Bachelor s degree in one of the following disciplines:
