The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wireless embedded systems, firmware architecture, debugging, security, and close collaboration with hardware and RF engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for hardware-based products.
  • Develop bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware using Embedded C.
  • Work with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and interrupt-driven architectures.
  • Develop and support peripheral interfaces including DMA, timers, watchdogs, GPIO, UART, SPI, and I2C.
  • Design and maintain bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms.
  • Support secure and wireless OTA firmware updates.
  • Debug embedded systems using tools such as J-Link, SWD, and GDB.
  • Develop low-power firmware solutions for battery-powered and connected devices.
  • Design and support wireless communication, mesh networking, and low-power sensor networks.
  • Work with RF and hardware engineers to troubleshoot system-level issues.
  • Support firmware architecture, state machines, event-driven systems, and hardware abstraction layers.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and firmware documentation.
  • Support product security through secure boot, firmware signing, key provisioning, encrypted communications, and secure credential storage.
  • Assist with debugging, RF performance optimization, EMC/EMI troubleshooting, and certification activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Embedded C.
  • Experience developing bare-metal and/or RTOS-based firmware.
  • Strong experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
  • Experience with interrupt-driven embedded architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with common embedded interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, DMA, timers, and watchdogs.
  • Experience with embedded debugging tools and techniques.
  • Experience with bootloaders and firmware update systems.
  • Understanding of low-power embedded system design.
  • Experience with wireless communication protocols and connected devices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with hardware and engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Z-Wave, proprietary sub-GHz protocols, mesh networking, or low-power wireless sensor networks.
  • Experience with wireless OTA firmware updates and RF coexistence.
  • Experience with Silicon Labs wireless platforms, SDKs, or development tools.
  • Experience with custom protocol development or MAC/PHY-level modifications.
  • Knowledge of secure boot, firmware signing, encrypted OTA updates, secure pairing, authentication, and replay protection.
  • Experience with modular firmware architecture and event-driven design.
  • Experience using Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and hardware abstraction layers.
  • RF knowledge, including antenna and layout considerations, RF sensitivity, link budgets, sub-GHz propagation, and EMC/EMI troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with spectrum analyzers, VNAs, or other RF test equipment.
