During a period of rapid expansion, GE Vernova is looking to recruit Project Engineers to work on our exciting new projects within our Northern European Grid Solutions Business with offices in the UK, France, Denmark, and Norway, and a footprint across Europe. You’ll be based at one of our office locations and will operate within a flexible hybrid system.
As a Project Engineering Manager you will manage, supervise, coordinate, and lead the engineering activities of the project in line with safety, quality, time delivery, and cost criteria. You will be the technical lead for electrical design and engineering of large energy projects, preparing specifications, leading on deviations and clarifications, and attending FATs and SATs. You will coordinate design activities, manage the project design budget, oversee the design change process, and ensure technical co‑ordination of the Grid Solutions Project.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define the scope and engineering deliverables in coordination with responsible functions and disciplines.
- Manage the global time schedule of engineering activities, ensure coherence between engineering and other project functions (procurement, construction, commissioning), and follow up critical activities.
- Plan and manage delivery time of technical interfaces with your work package, and establish exchange interface sheets with partners, customers, and third‑party contractors.
- Ensure on‑time delivery of design to stakeholders with suitable quality, including partner documents.
- Support the Project Engineering Director and Project I&I Manager in engineering change management for large and complex projects.
- Lead and coordinate design teams, supported by Primary, Secondary, and Civil Designers.
- Follow the engineering budget, identify potential savings, and highlight instances requiring additional budget.
- Participate and contribute to multidisciplinary design reviews according to EMH procedures and the project strategy.
- Manage scope or design changes and prepare related claims and VO approvals.
- Analyse customer technical requirements, prepare clause‑by‑clause analysis, and ensure compliance through Technical Queries.
- Validate design throughout customer acceptance.
- Manage return status of project documentation (approved, comments, resubmit, rejected) for your work package.
- Prepare or review technical specifications and supplier documents to enable procurement of materials and plant detailed design.
- Verify design effectiveness against contract requirements within the project budget and seek global cost optimisation in all design phases, mainly during basic design.
Required Qualifications
- Engineering degree level or equivalent education/experience.
- Experience leading engineering activities in an EPC type environment.
- Successful experience in project technical management in a multi‑disciplinary team context, managing multiple interfaces and products from several countries.
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge of the Transmission or Distribution industry is essential.
- Awareness of local regulations and customer practices in the country of operation.
- Ability to coordinate multi‑project and remote multi‑functional teams with clear communication and leadership.
