The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Advanced Electronic Components and Systems; Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies; Communications Technologies; IoT Sensing and AI Technologies; and Intelligent Perception and Control Technologies.
ASTRI applies its technology expertise across six core areas: Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.
Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. It has transferred almost 1,500 technologies to industry and been granted more than 1,100 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop back-end software for fintech applications.
- Develop front-end interfaces and integrate with back-end systems.
- Write technical documents and reports.
- Design and implement test plans.
- Work in a team setting and engage in the full product lifecycle.
- Cooperate with third‑party providers for product integration and support (8x5).
- Perform ad‑hoc duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Ph.D., Master, or Bachelor in computer science, engineering, science or relevant disciplines.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (candidates with less experience may be considered).
- Proficient in Java/Kotlin or Python.
- Hands‑on experience with the machine learning tech stack, including self‑supervised learning, reinforcement learning and model tuning is highly desirable.
- Hands‑on experience with the blockchain tech stack, including smart contract and dApps development (in Solidity/Go/Rust or other relevant languages), digital tokens and cryptography is highly desirable.
- Hands‑on experience with RESTful API development and familiarity with back‑end frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot) and front‑end frameworks (e.g., ReactJS, Vue.js, Bootstrap, jQuery) is desirable.
- Familiarity with financial modelling, asset tokenization is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD is a plus.
- Experience with ITC project workflows is a plus.
- Quick learner with a keen interest in new technologies.
- Proficiency in creating technical documentation in English.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance‑linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five‑day week.
