Your New CompanyAn exciting opportunity is available to join a major Queensland public sector infrastructure program focused on improving heavy vehicle access and supporting the safe, efficient operation of the state's transport network. Working within a high-performing engineering team, you will contribute to nationally significant reform initiatives, asset management improvements, and critical transport infrastructure outcomes.
Your New RoleAs Principal Engineer, you will provide senior engineering, governance and technical advice to support the delivery of major heavy vehicle access and structural asset management programs, including the National Automated Access System (NAAS) and the new Class 1 Heavy Vehicle Access Regime. You will play a key role in validating engineering decisions, supporting transport reform initiatives, and ensuring safe and consistent access outcomes across Queensland's road network.Key responsibilities include:
- Providing specialist engineering advice on heavy vehicle access, policies, procedures and operational requirements.
- Managing research and improvement initiatives that enhance structural asset management practices and optimise asset performance.
- Analysing asset and bridge data to inform risk management, investment priorities and lifecycle planning.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, regulators and industry representatives.
- Preparing executive briefings, reports, submissions and strategic documentation.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineering professionals and project teams.
What You'll Need to SucceedTo be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Structural) recognised under the Washington Accord or equivalent.
- Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience providing high-level engineering advice within transport, infrastructure, asset management or structural engineering environments.
- Experience developing policies, governance frameworks, technical standards and strategic engineering initiatives.
- Knowledge of heavy vehicle access, asset management, transport infrastructure, or related fields will be highly regarded.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing executive-level documentation and reports.
