The Senior Engineering Manager -Testing (Transit)is responsible for 

  • ToManaging a team of engineers and techniciansvalidatingWabtec’s globalElectromechanicalhardware components. The candidate willbe responsible forensuring that all hardware components are thoroughly tested andvalidatedbefore they are releasedintothe market. 

  • ToManaging a team of engineers and technicians to design, develop, and implement test benches/ATE’stomeet the needs of our product development, Services, and manufacturing teamsandfacilitatein thebuild therequired testinfrastructure in the labs for Component Validations.

  • Developing a long-term plan forvalidatingvarious components, subsystems of locomotive with a view tooptimizetesting time while improving the design robustness and timeliness of testing

  • Role Summary and Responsibilities:

  • FunctionalLeadership: lead the teams inTranslating the Engineering requirements into aTest requirement,development ofcomponentspecifications for lab testsetup,Buildingthe required test facilitiesand supporting the Validations of Electrical, Mechanical locomotive components and subsystemsin test lab or field.Develop and execute plans, schedules for test engineering tasks/ activities for R&D and product development projects

  • Operational Leadership:Drive operational and execution excellence through innovative planning, resourceengagementand close working with both local and global stakeholder teams. The individual will also drive synergies with external labs/partners to expand our capabilities beyond in-house capacity.Drive highutilizationof test set ups and meet engineering productivity

  • PeopleLeadership:Growand develop a team of Test Engineers and Technicians.Responsible for recruitment, training, growth of team members, mentoring and building highly capable teams

  • Work closely with site cross functional teams of EHS, Facilities, Compliance, Import/Export, Logisticsetc.to integrate lab plans as applicable for implementation.

  • Leads the engineering test group and ensures that all test developments follow a disciplined engineering Qualitymgmt/toll gate process and Site EHS processes.

  • Project management for the validation and test phases of supported projects, including reporting to leadership.Monitor and communicate project status, issues, and mitigation actions to upper management as appropriate

  • Provides test forecasts andidentifiestest lab needs for future projects.Accountable for estimation of test engineering efforts and execution of commitments with personal hands-on participation as necessary

  • Responsible for the upkeep of all test engineering laboratory resources, including but not limited to calibration and upgrades.

  • Budget planning for the team, managebudgets and ensure projects are completed within budget

  • Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/master’s degree in mechanicalor Electrical Engineeringfrom reputedinstitute.

  • Experience with Component validations ofElectromechanicalSystems,sensors, mechatronics

  • 15+ years’ experience in aerospace, automotive, Rail Industry or similar high-reliability engineeringenvironmentandalteast2 to 3 years of Supervisory Experience.

  • Ability to handle multiple challenging, unstructured areas ofresponsibility.

  • Excellent oral & written technical communication 

  • Strong interpersonal & leadership skills 

  • Commitment to Integrity & Compliance 

  • Passion to drive innovativecomponentlevel validations and expand the lab capabilities to help business

  • Experience/familiarity in a lab environment with data acquisition systems, test instrumentation, industrial test laboratoryenvironmentsand procedures

  • Desired Characteristics:

  • Global exposure with experience of working with global partners 

  • Should havegoodknowledge on ISO17025 based lab process, Standardsaround ATE builds,any past relevant experience with NABL accredited lab will be preferred.

  • Proven record ofdemonstratedexpertiseinElectricalcomponentvalidation 

  • Design of test benches and rigs and for laboratory testing and prototype testing

  • Advanced degree is a plus 

  • Demonstrated capability of leading projects and executing on time/quality/cost.

  • Should have basic knowledge about Safety.
