Facility And Program Supervisor, Senior

Hiring Range: ($58,835-$72,000)

The City of Richmond Department of Parks Recreation and Community Facilities is seeking a highly qualified and energetic candidate to fill the position of Facility and Program Supervisor, Senior. The position will report to the Recreation Program Supervisor who oversees multiple community center locations. This position involves the daily operations of a recreation facility including supervising staff, leading programs, and day to day operations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversight of a large, multi-generational community center space that includes but is not limited to the below listed duties:
  • Overseeing and training facility staff on building operations, customer service and other training as needed.
  • Supervising staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures, and tracking attendance.
  • Coordinating the daily facility schedule, including working with the permits division to schedule partner programs and external rentals.
  • Communicating and collaborating with community partners to expand facility offerings.
  • Developing and updating facility policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating and scheduling special event logistics such as meetings and training programs.
  • Overseeing registration and payments for programs, processing receipts and revenues; maintaining and entering financial data and preparing reports.
  • Overseeing facility supplies and inventory and making purchases as needed.
  • Ensuring program information displayed on-line is accurate and up to date.
  • Monitoring operations in the facility to ensure safety and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's Degree in parks and recreation or business administration is preferred
  • Three years of recreation program experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification

LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • None required

  • City and department policies, functions, and organization
  • Planning, design, maintenance and use of parks and recreation facilities
  • Current techniques in the assessment of recreational program and facility needs
  • Applicable state and federal regulations
  • Procurement
  • Richmond street layout
  • Some combination of the following programs, policies, and procedures: USDA Food Program, participation in Nationwide Art Exhibits, classes in Cultural Arts, building operation and safety measures, and city codes
  • Fundraising, sponsorships, partnerships, public relations and marketing
  • General mathematical knowledge
  • General office equipment (such as computers, copiers, printers, calculators), athletic equipment, credit card/electronic check machine equipment, and Richmond Alarm Security Camera equipment
  • General office software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Vermont Systems Recreation Software, RecTrac 10.3, and Oracle Rapids
  • Controls and safety

Skills (some combination of the following):

  • Leading, motivating, and training employees
  • Conducting performance reviews
  • Coordinating events and trainings
  • Inspecting and analyzing facility operations
  • Preparing written financial and statistical reports
  • Customer service for both internal and external customers

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Due to the nature of work assignments, incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraint. The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly stand, walk, push, pull, lift, work with one's fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions; frequently balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach; and occasionally climb, and crawl. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be medium work (exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects), but may differ based on area of focus.
