San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for San Bernardino Valley College on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. Student worker will assist employees in the Basic Needs Office. Student workers are responsible for assisting the Basic Needs staff in the successful management and implementation of the student engagement experience including Bue's Pantry, the Basic Needs Office, and occasionally The Office of Student Life. Students will be cross trained to work in several of these areas and provide assistance with general office duties to include the following areas: information desk, technical/operation, services, event logistics, office and clerical assistance. Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population. Due to the sensitive nature of office logistics, students will be expected to maintain a high level of confidentiality. ALL STUDENT EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND PERIODIC MANDATORY TRAININGS. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. This position also requires assisting Blue's Pantry with deliveries, stocking, etc. and will require appropriate attire. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
