Praetori builds Continuous Control Infrastructure to secure Europe's operational independence. We are looking for a full stack engineer who builds software that stays clear, fast and dependable when the people using it are under real pressure.

Praetori builds Continuous Control Infrastructure: one sovereign software layer that keeps the operational picture, the decision and the action connected while conditions change.
Operations move continuously. Most systems do not. When information fragments across tools and the situation shifts faster than the response, control is lost. Praetori closes that gap, so critical teams understand, decide and act as one, and hold sovereign control when external dependencies fail.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The interface between an operator and the system is where our software earns trust or loses it. Our users make consequential decisions in compressed time, often in degraded conditions. The product has to make the right action obvious, absorb complexity on their behalf, and never get in the way. That standard runs from the pixel to the data model.
You own significant parts of the product end to end: architecture, interfaces, data flows and performance. You build systems that scale and interfaces that stay legible under stress, and you move quickly without letting quality slip. You work with product, design, forward deployed engineers and infrastructure.
Within twelve months, you will have shipped core product operators choose because it is clearer and faster than anything else on their screen, built an architecture that keeps the team shipping quickly as the product grows, and made performance and reliability strengths of the product rather than complaints.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and build core product features end to end, from data model and API to interface.
- Build interfaces in TypeScript, React and Next.js that stay clear and responsive under pressure.
- Design backend services and APIs in Node.js that are correct, observable and fast.
- Make architecture decisions that keep the system scalable and the codebase pleasant to build on.
- Treat performance as a feature. Latency, responsiveness and reliability are part of the product.
- Bring product thinking. Help decide what to build and why, not only how.
- Work with design to turn complex operational workflows into interfaces that feel inevitable.
- Harden field prototypes from forward deployed engineers into production-grade features.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- You can point to a production system you built end to end that people use daily, and the calls you made to keep it fast.
- Deep TypeScript expertise across the stack, with strong React and Next.js on the front end.
- Solid backend engineering in Node.js: APIs, data modelling and services built to last.
- A record of shipping production software that is genuinely fast, reliable and well-crafted.
- Sound architectural judgement. You keep systems simple as they scale.
- Real care for UX and product outcomes, not just code that compiles.
- High ownership and high standards, even under deadline. Fluent English.
Preferred
- Experience with complex, data-dense or real-time interfaces: dashboards, operational tooling, mapping, monitoring.
- Background in high-reliability software where failure carries real consequences.
- Depth in performance engineering, or in design systems and interface craft.
- Interest in the mission: defence, security and critical infrastructure.

Location Haarlem, the Netherlands. Hybrid, with regular time on-site.

Compensation A market-rate salary and meaningful equity.
