Overview
Finning Canada is seeking a permanent, full‑time Senior Full Stack Developer to report to the Solutions Delivery Lead in Surrey or Edmonton. The mandate is to design, build, and evolve modern digital products that deliver measurable business value, integrating AI‑assisted development practices, cloud technologies, and agentic frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Delivery (50%) – Design, develop, test, and deploy modern full‑stack applications; build scalable cloud‑native solutions using web, mobile, API and integration technologies; leverage AI‑assisted development tools; translate business requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable solutions; perform code reviews and mandate compliance with enterprise engineering standards.
- AI‑Enabled Development & Innovation (20%) – Utilize generative AI, code assistants, agentic workflows and prompt‑engineering to accelerate lifecycle activities; prototype and validate business concepts through AI‑assisted (“Vibe Coding”); evaluate and recommend emerging AI technologies; champion responsible AI governance.
- Technical Leadership (15%) – Provide technical guidance and mentorship; lead architecture discussions and design reviews; promote reusable components and platform standards; support team capability growth in AI‑assisted and modern engineering techniques.
- Operational Excellence (10%) – Support production applications; resolve incidents, defects and performance issues; monitor health, reliability and security; improve CI/CD, DevOps and operational processes.
- Planning & Estimation (5%) – Deliver solution estimates and technical assessments; identify risks, dependencies, and delivery considerations; report progress and proactively raise issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post‑secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of designing, developing and delivering enterprise software solutions.
- 5+ years of building modern web applications, APIs and distributed systems.
- Experience in Agile product delivery environments.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Core Technical Skills
- Front‑end: Angular, React or comparable frameworks.
- Back‑end: .NET/C#, Node.js or comparable tech.
- SQL and modern data platforms.
- RESTful API development and enterprise integration.
Cloud & Enterprise Architecture
- Cloud‑native application development and architecture.
- Microservices, event‑driven and distributed system architectures.
- Enterprise integration, API management patterns.
- Observability, monitoring and performance optimisation practices.
DevOps & Software Delivery
- Git‑based source control and collaborative workflows.
- CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
- Infrastructure as Code.
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Automated testing, quality engineering and DevSecOps principles.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) fundamentals.
Security & Governance
- Secure software development practices.
- Knowledge of security, privacy, compliance and governance.
- Responsible AI development and governance principles.
AI‑Assisted Development & Automation
- Experience with AI‑assisted tools and workflows.
- Prompt engineering for design, development and delivery.
- Agentic development workflows and AI‑driven automation.
- AI‑assisted code review, testing, optimisation and refactoring.
- Rapid prototyping on AI‑powered platforms.
- Human‑in‑the‑loop validation and risk management.
- Mandate governance of AI‑generated artefacts and configurations.
Preferred AI Technologies
- GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, Devin or similar.
- AI‑enabled applications, intelligent automation or AI‑powered user experiences.
- Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, Semantic Kernel, LangChain or comparable frameworks.
