Onsite Interview Detail: During the 2nd round, candidates will be required to physically write a SQL query live. Location & Setup Mandates
Dual-location capability is available, but McLean, VA is highly preferred.
- McLean, VA: Fully Onsite.
- Plano, TX: Hybrid (1 2 days a week in-office).
- Crucial Extension Requirement: If this contract extends into the following year, the candidate must be willing and able to transition to 5 days a week fully onsite (this applies to the Texas hybrid team as well). Do not submit candidates who cannot commit to this.
Candidate Profile & Soft Skills
- Experience Level: Seasoned, hands-on "in the weeds" developer reporting directly to a Tech Lead. Junior profiles or high-level architects/lead coordinators are not a fit.
- Communication: Strong, assertive communication is non-negotiable. The manager explicitly requires vocal, collaborative developers who actively participate on team calls.
- Testing Ownership: There is no dedicated QA team. Developers wear multiple hats and must own their testing end-to-end.
Technical Stack & Responsibilities
- Frontend (30%): Angular version 8 or higher. Strictly no React developers; they require dedicated Angular expertise.
- Backend (70%): Strong Java/Spring Boot experience building features for a core payment system.
- Database: MS SQL Server environment. Candidates must be highly comfortable writing complex SQL queries.
- Security: A security-first mindset is highly critical. Must have hands-on experience handling PII and setting up proper logging.
- Testing: Fitnesse is highly integrated into their lifecycle. Candidates must write acceptance test scripts alongside standard Java JUnit/Mockito tests. (If they lack Fitnesse, they must have strong experience in a similar tool and the ability to learn rapidly).
- GenAI Tooling: Must intimately know how to safely leverage GenAI tools (GitHub CoPilot, Claude, Amazon Q, Kiro) to spot and prevent code security flaws and write secure code faster. (Note: They are not building AI features, just utilizing the tools).
- Nice-to-Haves: IBM MQ, IBM Connect:Direct (file-based protocol), background in capital markets/payments, and prior Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- 5 7 years of IT experience in design, development, integration, and testing of software solutions based on J2EE technologies in an Agile environment.
- 5 7 years of experience with relational databases (Sybase, SQL Server, MySQL, and/or DB2).
- 3 5 years of experience developing RESTful web services using Spring Boot.
- 2 3 years of experience developing front-end GUIs using Angular 2+.
