We’re partnering with a growing industrial IoT company building remote monitoring solutions that help organisations measure, manage, and optimise critical assets across infrastructure, utilities, mining, rail, oil & gas, and environmental monitoring.

Founded in 2017, the company engineers ruggedised industrial IoT devices and cloud software that provide real‑time visibility in some of the harshest operating environments. Their solutions support use cases across sewer level monitoring, flood monitoring, air quality tracking, commercial metering, and broader infrastructure management.

They are now looking for a very Senior Engineer to join the team.

This is a hands‑on senior engineering role with a strong backend focus. You’ll work across their SaaS platform, helping scale the system, improve architecture, build major new features, and support the evolution of a platform connected to thousands of real‑world devices.

The role

This is not a role for someone looking to move away from the code. They are looking for a senior engineer who can own major technical work end to end, make strong architecture decisions, and help raise the bar for the engineers around them.

You’ll be working across:

  • Backend services, APIs, and platform architecture
  • C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Azure, SQL, and TypeScript
  • SaaS platform scaling and high availability
  • Multi‑tenancy, data contracts, and service design
  • Cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, containers, and Infrastructure as Code
  • Technical debt reduction and platform re‑architecture
  • Integration between software, hardware, and device data
  • Mentoring, code reviews, and engineering standards

The platform is scaling significantly, with major device growth ahead. There is a strong mix of new feature development, architecture improvement, and technical debt reduction, so this role will suit someone who enjoys solving meaningful engineering problems rather than simply maintaining an already‑polished platform.

What they’re looking for

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Strong experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Full Stack Engineer, Senior Backend Engineer, or similar
  • Deep backend experience with C#/.NET
  • Experience with ASP.NET Core Web APIs
  • Strong cloud experience, ideally Azure
  • Solid SQL experience, ideally including SQL Server, query tuning, indexing, or Entity Framework Core
  • Experience building and operating SaaS, platform, or cloud‑native systems
  • Strong understanding of API design, service design, and scalable architecture
  • Exposure to CI/CD, automated testing, containers, and Infrastructure as Code
  • Ability to work across backend‑heavy full stack environments
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor other engineers
  • Experience with multi‑tenancy, microservices, modular monoliths, event‑driven systems, DDD, CQRS, IoT, or high‑volume data platforms would be highly valuable.

Location

This role is ideally Brisbane hybrid, with an expectation of being in the office around 2 days per week.

Brisbane is strongly preferred due to the company’s local engineering and operational presence but will consider people located in Melbourne & Sydney also.

Why this role?

This is a great opportunity for a senior engineer who wants to work on real‑world technology with genuine impact.

You’ll be joining a business building industrial IoT and cloud software that helps customers monitor critical infrastructure, reduce downtime, optimise operations, and make better decisions in challenging environments.

It’s also an opportunity to join at an important stage of the platform’s evolution, where your decisions and engineering judgement will directly shape how the system scales over the coming years.
