Melbourne – hybrid, 2 days in office (flex around onboarding)
Up to $150k + super + wellness days (working towards a 4-day work week)
I’m partnered exclusively with a small, high-impact team in the clean energy / climate space. They’re rebuilding and extending the platforms that sit at the heart of several group businesses and need a Senior Full‑Stack Engineer who can own problems end-to-end and work closely with non‑technical stakeholders.
You’ll be hands‑on across a modern TypeScript stack, working with a very capable hands‑on Dev Manager and broader leadership to shape products in a complex, regulated environment.
The Opportunity
- Senior role with real ownership across apps and services.
- Work on customer‑facing products and internal tools with tangible impact.
- Help evolve architecture, schemas and patterns as the platform grows.
- Leadership team that backs learning (including AI‑assisted development like Claude).
- Clear path to broaden influence across product, process and technical direction.
What You’ll Do
Design and build features across a modern web stack:
- TypeScript, React (React Native a bonus), Node.js, GraphQL / REST
- Own end‑to‑end full‑stack across business‑logic‑heavy services and APIs
- Data modelling and schema‑first design
- Spot architectural, performance and maintainability issues
- Give clear, constructive feedback to peers
- Work directly with non‑technical stakeholders:
- Turn “we need a button that does X” into the real problem and options
- Scope workflow improvements and automation for internal teams
- Use AI tools (like Claude) as part of your development toolkit.
Core Tech & Skills
You should be strong across most of:
Front End & Back End
- React (React Native nice to have, not required)
- Node.js in production
- GraphQL and/or REST APIs
- Schema and data model design
- Reasoning about trade‑offs between patterns/approaches
- AWS (though open to strong experience across other cloud)
- Containers / orchestration concepts
- Strong Git workflow and PR/code review experience
- Search/indexing and scalable backend components
Soft Skills & Ways of Working
- Confident with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Explain the “why” behind decisions and consider business impact
- Open to shaping and adopting AI‑assisted development practices
Who You Are
- Someone who values sustainability in your work life.
- Naturally curious – you dig into the “why” before locking in a solution.
- Comfortable in regulated, constraint‑heavy domains and enjoy the nuance.
- Adaptable – keen to learn new tools, patterns and approaches as things evolve.
- Ownership mindset – you want to be trusted with core parts of the product and platform.
Perfect for a strong Senior Engineer who wants real ownership in a small, sharp team working on meaningful problems in energy and climate.
