Overview
We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and hands-on development expertise within a high-performing engineering team building the next generation of the Fusion Platform.
This role is ideal for a senior technologist who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, defining architectural direction, mentoring engineers, and delivering modern cloud-native applications at scale. You'll work closely with AWS, influence engineering best practices, and play a key role in shaping the future of a business-critical platform used globally.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across the Fusion Platform engineering team.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable full-stack applications using modern technologies.
- Act as the technical authority for engineering standards, software design patterns, and development best practices.
- Lead the design and implementation of cloud-native, event-driven, and microservices-based solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical solutions.
- Mentor and coach engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive continuous improvement across software development lifecycle processes, tooling, and delivery practices.
- Contribute to roadmap planning, technical estimation, prioritisation, and solution design activities.
- Improve platform reliability, performance, maintainability, and scalability.
- Support production systems and contribute to incident management and operational excellence initiatives when required.
- Promote a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Full Stack, Front-End, or Back-End Software Engineer in enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise in TypeScript , React , Redux , React Query , HTML5 , and CSS3 .
- Experience building and integrating REST APIs , GraphQL APIs , and WebSocket-based applications .
- Strong backend development experience using TypeScript , C# , Java , or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience designing and building microservices architectures and event-driven systems.
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services , including Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway, and AppSync.
- Experience with Terraform , Infrastructure as Code, and cloud-native deployments.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control (Git), and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Experience working with messaging technologies such as Solace, AMQP, or similar Pub/Sub platforms.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, engineering best practices, and scalable system design.
- Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Comfortable leading technical discussions with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Experience with C# (.NET 8+) .
- Strong understanding of SOLID principles and object-oriented design.
- Experience within Financial Services, Trading Platforms, or Capital Markets environments.
- Knowledge of OTC products and financial market infrastructure.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects.
- Exposure to regulatory-driven technology initiatives
