About the role
As a Full Stack Lead Engineer, you will design and deliver scalable, high‑performance, cloud‑native applications as a valued member of the engineering team. You will collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross‑functional stakeholders to build modern banking platforms using microservices, AI‑assisted development, and DevOps practices.
Requirements
- 10–12+ years of experience in IT
- Strong expertise in Java (Spring Boot, microservices) and Angular or Node.js
- 5 or more years of experience developing and supporting production‑level software
- Experience creating production REST APIs and related technologies in a large organization
- Experience developing large, scalable, distributed systems running in the cloud
- Experience working with fully automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub or equivalent
- Experience working with data processing using JSON, SQL and NoSQL storage systems
- Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes, and securing web applications and REST APIs
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or OpenShift) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
Responsibilities
- Design, code, execute, and support various applications
- Code and troubleshoot Python and/or Java REST APIs and related software
- Help lead end‑to‑end architecture and design of scalable full‑stack solutions (backend and frontend)
- Drive hands‑on development using Java (Spring Boot) and Angular/Node.js
- Drive cloud and DevOps adoption across AWS, Azure, OpenShift with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD (GitHub Actions)
Eligibility

Certain roles may require candidates to attend in‑person interviews at Cognizant offices or client locations, depending on project requirements.
Work model
This hybrid position requires at least four days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON. Regardless of your working arrangement, Cognizant supports a healthy work‑life balance through wellbeing programs.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or equivalent.
Compensation
The base salary for this position ranges between CAD $74,250 to $117,500 per year, dependent on relevant education, work and/or management experience, and other business‑related and job‑necessary qualifications. The position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance‑based bonus, and for benefits that support physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
