Full Stack Software Developer with a Backend Focus

About the role

Wrknest is recruiting, on behalf of a small Swedish software company, a Full Stack Software Developer with a strong focus on backend development. The client develops its own SaaS platform for market and competitive intelligence, used by companies across several international markets.

This is a role for someone who enjoys the opportunities that come with working in a smaller company. The development team consists of around nine people, which means there is a short path from idea to implementation. You will work close to the product, technology and your colleagues while taking ownership of your own initiatives and projects.

Your main focus will be backend development in Python, but the role is intentionally broad. One day you might develop a new service or feature, while the next could involve collaborating with the frontend team in JavaScript or helping the support team solve a more advanced technical issue. The client has also been developing its own AI solutions for several years, and AI is now a natural part of both their product development and customer offering.

The technical environment includes Python, SQL, Google Cloud Platform, Pub/Sub and Google Vertex AI. The development team also works with automated CI/CD pipelines, peer code reviews and modern development practices to enable frequent and reliable releases.

Your future responsibilities

As a developer, you will work across the development process and take significant ownership of the areas and projects you are responsible for. While the role is primarily focused on backend development, the relatively small size of the team means that developers support each other where their skills are needed. This gives you the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise while also expanding your skill set over time.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing new backend features and services, primarily in Python

• Developing and improving solutions for AI, intelligent search and analytics

• Working with Google Cloud Platform, Pub/Sub and Google Vertex AI

• Collaborating with frontend developers and contributing with JavaScript, HTML and CSS when needed

• Working with SQL databases and search indexes

• Writing tests, debugging code and contributing to automated deployment processes

• Participating in peer code reviews and contributing to high code quality across the team

• Independently driving development tasks and projects from idea to finished solution

• Supporting the support team with more advanced technical issues

• Taking part in technical discussions with international customers when needed

As a large part of the customer base is located outside Sweden, occasional work or support outside regular office hours may occur.

We are looking for someone who

For this role, Wrknest is looking for someone who has gained a few years of professional software development experience and is comfortable working independently. You do not need to know every part of the client's technology stack from day one. What matters is that you have a solid programming foundation and a genuine interest in learning new technologies and understanding unfamiliar systems.

Requirements:

• At least a couple of years of professional full-time software development experience

• Strong knowledge of Python

• Experience with relational databases and SQL

• Experience with backend development and modern development environments

• A relevant technical higher education degree in areas such as Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent relevant expertise

• Ability to independently drive development tasks and projects

• Professional fluency in English, both spoken and written

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform

• Experience with Pub/Sub or other event-driven architectures

• Experience with Google Vertex AI or other AI platforms

• Experience with JavaScript, HTML and CSS

• Experience with Solr or other search technologies

• Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines

• Experience with technical customer interaction or advanced technical support

As a person, you are curious and enjoy learning about new areas. You thrive in an environment where responsibilities can vary and where solving the problem is sometimes more important than staying within a narrowly defined technical area. You take initiative, move your own work forward and are equally comfortable asking for help or supporting a colleague when needed. As the role can involve interaction with international customers, being communicative and comfortable in technical discussions will also be valuable.

Additional information

Start: By agreement

Location: Central Stockholm. The client operates a hybrid working model and expects you to work from the office at least two days per week.

Scope: Full-time

Employment: Permanent employment directly with the client. This recruitment process is conducted by Wrknest on behalf of the client company.

Language: English is the working language and Swedish is not required.

The client is a Swedish software company founded in the late 1990s that develops SaaS solutions for market and competitive intelligence. Their platform is used by organizations across several countries and helps customers collect, structure and analyze information to support better business decisions.

Today, the company consists of around 20 employees, with roughly half working in development. They have deliberately chosen to remain a relatively small organization and use automation, among other things, to continue developing their product and serving an international customer base without building a large organization.

The development team works across backend, frontend and AI. The client has been developing its own AI solutions for several years and continues to expand its AI-based services as part of its offering.
