Job Summary Our client, a leading aviation company, is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to support its Travel Rewards and Customer Programs team by developing and enhancing scalable, cloud-based web applications and microservices. This role focuses on building modern applications using Java, Spring Boot, React or Angular, while designing secure REST APIs, integrating cloud-native services, and deploying solutions in AWS and Cloud Foundry environments. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of full-stack development experience, strong expertise in Spring Boot, microservices, cloud technologies, and Agile development, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable software while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Writes, tests, and documents technical work products (e.g., code, scripts, processes) according to organizational standards and practices
- Solves technical problems and builds components/libraries with far-reaching impact
- Delivers high-quality work and coaches more junior engineers on technical craftsmanship
- Conducts root cause analysis to identify systemic problems and defines and leads execution of action items to address
- Designs thoughtfully integrated systems that model organizational best practices, allowing disparate teams across product domains to deliver value with speed, scale, and reliability
- Oversees the management of technical debt in existing systems and drives opportunities to eliminate within ongoing implementations
- Consistently anticipates scaling, latency, and durability challenges and guides teams in implementation of mitigating strategies
- Partners with the security organization to incorporate security conscious practices early in the lifecycle of new systems
- Thoughtfully evaluates technical risks and guides toward practical prevention strategies
- Consistently reflects on squad delivery practices throughout their span of influence, recommends improvements to leadership and drives their implementation
- Maintains a focus on removing the duplication of effort across teams and proactively identifies opportunities for reuse within their span of influence
- Thoughtfully measures and assesses team and identifies areas of development for individuals
- Explores emerging technologies, leads development of prototypes with little or no guidance and incorporates into architectural solutions where appropriate
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- 5+ years of experience developing full-stack web applications
- 3+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum development teams
- 3+ years of experience developing and managing applications in cloud environments, preferably Cloud Foundry
- 3+ years of experience building microservices for PCF Cloud and deploying through Apigee/Apollo, with experience in AWS
- 3+ years of experience with React or Angular 2+
- 3+ years of experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Security, Spring Integration, Spring JMS, Spring Cloud, Spring REST, along with TDD, event-driven architecture, MongoDB, and Agile development
- Experience developing web applications using React, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, HTTP, XML, JSON, and SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, SQL)
- Experience with Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Docker, and modern full-stack application development
- Experience developing and supporting REST APIs, including refactoring legacy SOAP services to REST APIs
- Experience with Microservices, CI/CD pipelines, Gradle, Swagger, Apigee, JIRA, Confluence, and application testing using Postman and SOAP UI
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience with Azure Cloud
- Experience using GitHub, GitHub Actions, IntelliJ, and Jenkins
- Experience with Scala and C++
- Experience with Mockito for unit testing
- Experience with Pivotal Cloud
- Familiarity with event-driven application design and enterprise integration patterns beyond core Spring Boot development
