Fullstack Software Engineer
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- 8+ years of industry software engineering experience.
- Strong fullstack development experience, ideally with React, TypeScript, Java, and/or Kotlin.
- Experience designing, implementing, and deploying long-term engineering initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
- Expertise in designing and scaling APIs and supporting backend services.
- Strong understanding of engineering best practices, continuous integration (CI), and incremental delivery.
- Experience working across unfamiliar codebases and quickly building technical context.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, data, product, and other cross-functional teams.
- Ability to use data insights and user research to identify and advocate for product improvements.
- Comfortable working in a small, evolving team where priorities and responsibilities may shift rapidly.
Preferred skills:
- Demonstrable interest in the social impact field.
- Familiarity with GraphQL.
- Fluency in HTML, CSS, and related web technologies.
- Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities.
Role Overview:
Seeking an experienced Fullstack Software Engineer to build technology supporting a global emergency response program. The role focuses on developing scalable capabilities for NGO partners, housing supply, and donations. The engineer will work closely with engineering, data, product, and cross-functional partners to deliver long-term initiatives. Success requires strong fullstack development, API architecture, and the ability to operate effectively in a fluid, rapidly evolving environment.
Duties:
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across all aspects of product development.
- Design and develop capabilities that enable NGO partners to book housing through the platform.
- Build solutions that expand the global supply of free or discounted housing.
- Develop capabilities that support donation initiatives.
- Partner with engineering and data teams to plan long-term projects and break them into actionable delivery milestones.
- Analyze data and user research to identify opportunities for product and engineering improvements.
- Advocate for product improvements based on data-driven insights and user needs.
- Quickly understand and contribute to unfamiliar codebases to deliver organization-specific capabilities.
- Design, implement, deploy, and scale APIs and their supporting services.
- Follow engineering best practices, continuous integration, and incremental delivery principles.
