Full Stack Software Engineer (React / Node.js / React Native) - GS26020

This is a 12 months fixed-term contract role (potential for contract extension or convert to permanent with good performance).

What will you do?

• Develop responsive web interfaces using React and TypeScript, and mobile features using React Native.
• Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Node.js (Express/NestJS or equivalent).
• Integrate web/mobile clients with APIs, third-party services and enterprise systems.
• Design data access logic and work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL and object storage where required.
• Write unit/integration tests; participate in code reviews and maintain engineering quality standards.
• Use Git-based workflows and contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test and deployment.
• Containerize applications with Docker and support deployments to AWS services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS and CloudWatch as applicable.
• Apply secure coding practices including input validation, authentication/authorization, secrets management and OWASP guidance.
• Troubleshoot defects and production issues using logs/metrics; support SIT, UAT and production releases.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and work closely with UX, QA, DevOps, product and architecture teams.

Requirements

Domain Skills

Compulsory / Must-have

• JavaScript/TypeScript with strong hands-on React development.
• Next.js, NestJS/Express, Node.js backend development and REST API design/integration.
• Hands-on React Native development or proven mobile application development experience.
• NoSQL and relational database fundamentals (e.g. PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB).
• Git, branching/pull-request workflows and automated testing (e.g. Jest).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps delivery practices.
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure, application deployment, logging/monitoring and IAM basics.
• Docker/container fundamentals and secure coding practices.

Desirable / Good-to-have

• AWS ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager.
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation; Kubernetes exposure.
• Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) or enterprise/government project experience.

Non-domain Skills

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a practical, delivery-oriented mindset.
• Ownership and accountability for assigned features from development through release and support.
• Clear communication and ability to collaborate with developers, QA, DevOps, architects and business stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum teams and manage priorities across concurrent tasks.
• Attention to software quality, security, maintainability and user experience.
• Willingness to learn new frameworks, cloud services and engineering practices as project needs evolve.

Education and Certification

Compulsory / Must-have

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer/Software Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.

Desirable / Good-to-have

• AWS certification such as Cloud Practitioner, Developer Associate or Solutions Architect Associate.
• Agile/Scrum or DevOps-related certification is an advantage but not mandatory.

Experience

Compulsory / Must-have

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience, with meaningful full-stack responsibilities.
• Production experience developing React/TypeScript web applications and Node.js backend services/APIs.
• Hands-on experience with React Native or delivery of mobile application features.
• Experience using Git, automated testing and CI/CD in an Agile software development lifecycle.
• Familiarity deploying or supporting applications on AWS and troubleshooting across application/infrastructure layers.

Desirable / Good-to-have

• Experience with containerized/cloud-native applications, Infrastructure as Code or Kubernetes.
• Experience delivering secure enterprise or Singapore Government digital services.
• Exposure to production monitoring, performance tuning and incident/problem resolution.
