ABOUT THE ROLE
Sensor Engineering is responsible for building and maintaining our custom Security Monitoring and telemetry platform. Our platform deploys specialized network sensors alongside a centralized data lake to handle large-scale security telemetry ingestion, container security data, and automated file analysis. Sensor Engineering bridges the gap between low-level network instrumentation, secure data transport, and high-performance user interfaces.
This position drives the hands-on engineering and full-stack execution of our sensor management platform and security visibility systems. The engineer will construct the critical software components that power the entire sensor lifecycle—from seamless remote deployment and configuration management to real-time health monitoring, telemetry ingestion, and log pipeline management.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will own two tightly connected areas: the sensor stack itself and the full-stack engineering that makes it manageable at scale.
· Build high-availability backend microservices and complex, responsive Single Page Applications (SPAs) to support platform operations.
· Develop the unified management control plane, UI, and backend pipelines needed to deploy, configure, monitor, and manage the health of distributed security sensors.
· Construct high-throughput data pipelines to stream, process, and query multi-source telemetry—including network security, file analysis, and container security events—within a centralized security data lake.
· Build and maintain the detection engine, rule authoring workflows, real-time alert routing, and threshold management capabilities.
· Develop user interfaces for sensor health monitoring, dynamic rule updates, live performance counters, and incident response management.
· Champion secure coding practices, conduct peer code reviews, and embed industry security standards (such as OWASP) directly into the development lifecycle.
· Package and deploy microservices and sensor configurations in Kubernetes environments, enforcing end-to-end SSL/TLS encryption, secure authentication, and hardened configurations.
REQUIREMENTS
Core — All Required
• 5–8 years of professional full-stack software engineering in a senior hands-on capacity.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and/or Go for microservices and API development.
• Frontend: Extensive experience building complex, responsive Single Page Applications (SPAs) using Vue.js
• Experience working with and managing network and security telemetry from sensors and agents such as Suricata, Zeek, NeuVector, file analysis systems (Strelka), honeypots, or WAFs.
• Production experience building and querying high-throughput data pipelines using OpenSearch, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis.
• Proven hands-on ability to orchestrate, deploy, and maintain secure microservices within Kubernetes environments.
• Deep understanding of secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices, industry standards (OWASP), data encryption, and end-to-end SSL/TLS configuration.
Strong Advantage — Not All Required
• Prior experience building products or tooling for SOC, SIEM, NSM, or detection engineering environments.
• Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework and Sigma rule authoring/conversion.
• Production experience building high-concurrency API services and distributed background job pipelines using async Python libraries and task queues
• Practical experience integrating, serving, or consuming local LLMs and machine learning models within web application workflows and decision engines.
