What you'll do
We're looking for a
Full Stack Software Engineer
to own backend and frontend development in Clara's Collections squad. You'll build features end-to-end — from data models and APIs to the interfaces our customers and internal teams use. This is a high-ownership role: you won't wait for a ticket to tell you what to do; you'll identify gaps, propose solutions, and ship.
Design and implement backend services in
Java + Spring Boot
, with a focus on financial flows (payments, collections, reconciliation)
Build and maintain frontend interfaces in
React + TypeScript
— you're comfortable owning a feature across both layers
Model data and manage
PostgreSQL
and
Redis
for transactional and caching needs
Work with
event-driven architectures
(Kafka or similar) in a distributed microservices environment
Build and secure
RESTful APIs
for internal and external consumption
Use
AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor)
as a default part of your workflow — we expect this, not just welcome it
Collaborate with your Pod Lead and PM to translate product needs into technical decisions, and push back when something doesn't make sense
Who you are
Must haves
3–5 years of backend development experience in
Java
, including
Spring Boot
Hands-on experience with
React
and
TypeScript
— you've shipped real UI, not just tutorials
Solid understanding of
PostgreSQL
and distributed systems fundamentals
Experience with
CI/CD, Docker, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
AI-augmented development is how you work
— you use AI tools daily to write, review, and debug code; you can speak concretely about how it's changed your output
You identify what's missing before someone asks — proactive, not reactive
Working proficiency in
English and Spanish
Nice to haves
Experience with
Kafka
,
RabbitMQ
, or other message brokers
Background in
financial services, payments, or fintech
— domain ramp is real; prior exposure matters
Experience in
Kubernetes
and production observability
You've built something — side project, open source, internal tool — that you're proud of and can walk us through

Clara's Hybrid Policy
Claridians in a hybrid mode split their time between working from the office, talking to or visiting customers, or working from home. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for each individual and team.
We don't enforce a minimum number of days for most roles, but you're expected to spend time at the office organically, and be at the office most days during your ramp-up or when required by your leader.
