The Caring Place (@Miami Rescue Mission & Broward Outreach Centers) is a leading provider of services to the homeless and needy of South Florida. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for "at-risk" youth.
We are currently seeking a PT Gift In Kind Processor at The Caring Place Center of Men in Miami, FL.
Job Summary
The Gift-in-Kind Processor (GIKP) reports to the Community Development Manager and is responsible for processing Gift-in-Kind (GIK) donations while assisting with special projects as assigned.
Primary responsibilities include physically collecting Gift-in-Kind donation tickets and processing donated items such as clothing, food, household goods, and other in-kind contributions. The GIKP is also responsible for reconciling all Gift-in-Kind receipts provided by the Donation Sorters, batching donations, and maintaining accurate donor records to ensure all information is complete and up to date.
Additional duties include maintaining an accurate Gift-in-Kind inventory spreadsheet, supporting inventory control, and providing general administrative and operational support to the Community Development Department.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain a weekly and monthly inventory of donations using computer software
- Ensures that GIK receipts are entered into the database timely and accurately.
- Ensure that all donations are entered into the appropriate spreadsheets. Assists with pricing updates of donated items utilized in placing dollar values to donated items. Provides reports as required that are complete, timely, and accurate.
- Must work flexible hours including weekends.
- Help with other projects as directed by supervisor in the development department
- Will lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach events
- Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Education/Experience Requirements
- Requires a High School diploma or GED
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience in a non-profit organization or general office setting
- Must be computer literate have experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Must be a self-motivated, highly organized and a team player
- Must be detailed-oriented with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and have computer skills
- Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written direction in English
- Requires a professional demeanor with the ability to interact with all levels of volunteers, donors, public, residents and staff
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit for extended periods, and can lift and/or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Must also be able to see, hear and speak, to interact with staff and the public
- Must also be able to move around as needed to perform essential job duties
