Job Summary (Senior GitHub Platform Engineer)- Serve as the primary architect and engineer for the enterprise GitHub ecosystem.
- Oversee administration and governance of GitHub Enterprise Cloud (EMU) and Enterprise Server.
- Design and enforce enterprise-level policies using policy-as-code (Terraform, GitHub API).
- Implement and manage org-wide rulesets, branch protection, and identity management (SAML/SCIM SSO via Entra ID/Okta).
- Build and automate platform workflows using REST/GraphQL APIs, GitHub Apps, webhooks, and CLI.
- Scale and manage self-hosted runners on Kubernetes using Actions Runner Controller (ARC).
- Curate a centralized library of reusable GitHub Actions workflows and composite actions.
- Oversee usage, spend, and runner group management for Actions infrastructure.
- Administer and roll out GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS), including CodeQL, secret scanning, and Dependabot.
- Customize security tooling (e.g., write custom CodeQL queries, tune SAST results, establish remediation SLAs).
- Lead migrations from legacy systems (GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Jenkins) to GitHub using GitHub Enterprise Importer.
- Modernize legacy CI/CD pipelines into secure GitHub Actions workflows.
- Spearhead GitHub Copilot rollout and governance to enhance developer experience.
- Develop self-service developer portals and integrations (e.g., Backstage).
- Define and report on engineering metrics (DORA, security posture, platform metrics).
- Optimize and manage spend across GitHub Actions, Packages, and GHAS features.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and support hybrid/on-site work in the Washington, DC area as needed.
