Role Overview – Head of Engineering
Head Of Engineering is responsible for leading and scaling the engineering organization, driving technical strategy, ensuring high-quality product delivery, and building a high-performing engineering team. The role requires a balance of technical leadership, people management, and strategic execution to support the company’s product and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
Lead, mentor, and scale multiple engineering teams including Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Developers. Establish engineering best practices, development standards, and operational excellence. Drive a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Technology Strategy
Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with business objectives. Evaluate and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools. Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and high performing. Delivery & Execution
Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance). Ensure timely delivery of engineering projects with high quality. Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. People Management
Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent. Build strong leadership pipelines within the engineering organization. Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development. Operational Excellence
Establish engineering metrics such as velocity, reliability, uptime, quality, and productivity. Drive improvements in DevOps, CI/CD, and automation. Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and coding standards. Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with company strategy. Communicate technical vision, progress, and risks to leadership. Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition on engineering hiring strategies. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 12–15+ years of experience in software engineering(Java fullstack / Golang) with 5–7 years in leadership roles. Proven experience managing large engineering teams and multiple engineering managers. Strong backend development expertise. Strong experience in system architecture, distributed systems, and scalable platforms. Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments. Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern development practices.
