Role Overview – Head of Engineering

Head Of Engineering is responsible for leading and scaling the engineering organization, driving technical strategy, ensuring high-quality product delivery, and building a high-performing engineering team. The role requires a balance of technical leadership, people management, and strategic execution to support the company’s product and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and scale multiple engineering teams including Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Developers.
  • Establish engineering best practices, development standards, and operational excellence.
  • Drive a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Technology Strategy

  • Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with business objectives.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and high performing.
  • Delivery & Execution

  • Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance).
  • Ensure timely delivery of engineering projects with high quality.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • People Management

  • Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Build strong leadership pipelines within the engineering organization.
  • Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development.
  • Operational Excellence

  • Establish engineering metrics such as velocity, reliability, uptime, quality, and productivity.
  • Drive improvements in DevOps, CI/CD, and automation.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and coding standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with company strategy.
  • Communicate technical vision, progress, and risks to leadership.
  • Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition on engineering hiring strategies.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 12–15+ years of experience in software engineering(Java fullstack / Golang) with 5–7 years in leadership roles.
  • Proven experience managing large engineering teams and multiple engineering managers.
  • Strong backend development expertise.
  • Strong experience in system architecture, distributed systems, and scalable platforms.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern development practices.
