About the client and role
Our client is a highly confidential, innovation-led materials technology business operating at the forefront of next-generation industrial applications.
As part of a critical growth phase, they are seeking a Head of Process Technology & Engineering to lead the development, industrialisation, and deployment of advanced process technologies across pilot and large-scale production environments.
This role will play a central part in translating cutting-edge material innovation into robust, scalable manufacturing capability. The successful candidate will operate at the interface of R&D, engineering, and operations, ensuring seamless transition from concept through to full industrial execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead process technology and engineering activities across pilot and industrial manufacturing environments.
- Define and deliver process scale-up strategies, ensuring successful transition from development through to full production.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimisation of complex process flows across multiple unit operations.
- Drive alignment between R&D, engineering, and operations to ensure efficient and scalable process deployment.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks for process quality, risk management, and continuous improvement.
- Support the design, build, and commissioning of new production facilities, ensuring readiness for operational handover.
- Lead engineering activities related to equipment selection, supplier engagement, and capital project execution.
- Develop and manage technical teams, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture across international locations.
- Provide structured reporting, planning, and performance tracking across process and engineering activities.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong background in chemical, materials, or process engineering within industrial environments.
- Proven experience in scaling complex processes from pilot to industrial production.
- Deep understanding of engineering project delivery, including design, commissioning, and ramp-up phases.
- Ability to bridge early-stage development with large-scale manufacturing execution.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary, international engineering teams.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to operate across technical and leadership stakeholders.
Experience
- Degree-qualified in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in process engineering and industrialisation within advanced manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated success in scaling technologies and supporting production facility development.
- Experience operating within international and cross-functional organisations is highly advantageous.
