Head of Reverse Processing

About Us

JINGDONG Logistics (JD Logistics) is the logistics arm of JD.com and one of the world's leading technology-driven supply chain solutions providers. Leveraging advanced expertise in automation, intelligent logistics, and data-driven operations, we deliver end-to-end logistics solutions that help businesses grow while enhancing customer experience.

Our capabilities span the entire supply chain, including warehousing, line-haul transportation, last-mile delivery, bulky goods logistics, cold chain solutions, and cross-border operations. Our mission is simple: to deliver speed, reliability, and operational excellence at every stage of the supply chain.

Context of the Position

As part of our strategic international expansion, JD Logistics is establishing its core infrastructure within the Spanish market. This is a critical greenfield deployment phase, which requires our founding leadership team to manage high operational fluidity, establish local processes from the ground up, and translate centralized global capabilities into localized execution.

This position is designed for an analytical, process-driven Reverse Logistics and Inventory expert. The role demands a professional who can build an end-to-end e-commerce returns processing, grading, and liquidation framework from scratch, turning a traditional cost center into an optimized value-recovery stream.

The Mission & Core Scope

  • The Mission: Build, lead, and optimize our dedicated Reverse Processing and Returns department in the Madrid region, ensuring rapid item grading, maximum inventory recovery, and minimized liquidation loss.
  • The Scope: You will take full operational ownership of the returns processing facility/zone—overseeing customer return intake, product quality grading, WMS inventory reintegration, refurbishment workflows, and local liquidation vendor management.

Crucial Expectations & Performance Targets

To provide a clear understanding of the accountability required, the successful candidate will be evaluated on the following key metrics during the initial 6 to 12 months:

  • Reverse Facility Commissioning: Successfully design and implement the physical layout, sorting rows, and technical grading workflows for e-commerce and bulky returns prior to site launch.
  • Cycle Time Resolution (SLA): Maintain aggressive targets for the time an item takes from arriving at the depot to being completely graded and updated in the system, ensuring customer refunds and restock timelines are minimized.
  • Yield and Recovery Optimization: Implement rigorous item grading matrices to accurately identify resellable stock, maximizing the percentage of items successfully returned to prime storage inventory.
  • Compliance & Discard Governance: Establish audited, cost-effective channels for electrical waste (RAEE), recycling, or localized product liquidation in 100% compliance with Spanish environmental and business regulations.

Position Requirements

  • Greenfield Launch Expertise: You must have a verified background of successfully establishing, launching, or managing a high-volume reverse logistics department, returns processing center, or refurbishment hub (e.g., tier-1 e-commerce networks, electronics repair hubs, or major fashion 3PL operations).
  • Strong Inventory & System Mastery: Deep experience with complex Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), item tracking history, and inventory classification logic.
  • Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory to govern local warehouse teams, manage local salvage partners, and deliver performance audits to global HQ. Knowledge of Mandarin is a highly valued corporate asset.
  • Operational Flexibility: High adaptability regarding operational timelines, volumes, and task shifting inherent to an expanding national infrastructure launch.

We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are made based on qualifications, merit, and business needs, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
