Job Summary:
The Ignition Developer will develop, implement, support, and continuously improve industrial applications across multiple manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, operations teams, IT personnel, and business stakeholders to design, deploy, and maintain Ignition solutions that improve operational efficiency, data visibility, system integration, and manufacturing performance. This position reports to the Team Lead, Process Control NA.
What you will be doing
Design, develop, and maintain applications using Ignition software.
Develop and support Perspective and Vision applications, including HMIs, dashboards, reports, and operational tools.
Configure and maintain tags, UDTs, alarms, historical data, security, and gateway settings.
Integrate PLCs, plant-floor equipment, databases, and third-party systems with Ignition.
Develop Python scripts, database queries, and system integrations to support manufacturing processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve application, communication, database, and system performance issues.
Participate in application architecture, standards development, and best practices for enterprise Ignition deployments.
Support software deployments, upgrades, testing, and validation activities across multiple manufacturing locations.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and IT teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and support materials.
Support API, MES, ERP, historian, and database integrations as required.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, standardization, cybersecurity, and operational excellence.
Provide technical support and mentorship to junior developers and plant personnel when required.
What will make you successful?
Required Education & Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, SCADA development, industrial software development, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience developing and supporting applications using Ignition software.
Experience developing applications in Ignition Perspective and/or Vision.
Experience working with PLC platforms and industrial communication protocols.
Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial operations environments.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Strong understanding of SCADA, HMI, and industrial application development principles.
Strong experience with Ignition Perspective development.
Experience using Python scripting within Ignition.
Working knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational database systems.
Experience developing reusable project resources including UDTs, templates, and shared scripting libraries.
Knowledge of OPC UA, MQTT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and other industrial communication technologies.
Experience integrating Ignition with REST APIs, MES, ERP, historians, and other enterprise systems.
Familiarity with source control systems and application lifecycle management processes.
Understanding of industrial networking, cybersecurity, and system reliability best practices.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
