We're looking for an Intermediate Full Stack Developer to join our Digital & Data team and help deliver the digital products and services that support New Zealand businesses on the world stage.

This is a hands-on role for a Full Stack developer who enjoys working across both front-end and back-end technologies, contributing to new features, product enhancements, integrations, maintenance, and operational support across a range of digital products.

What you'll be doing

  • Building and enhancing customer-facing and internal digital products.
  • Developing across both front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Working closely with Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, Testers and fellow Developers in agile squads.
  • Contributing to solution design, development, testing and deployment.
  • Supporting existing applications through incident resolution, maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate delivery while applying sound engineering judgement.
  • Building secure-by-design solutions and applying secure coding practices, including authentication, authorisation and the safe handling of sensitive data.
  • Managing dependencies and remediating vulnerabilities to keep our digital products secure and healthy.
  • Reviewing AI-generated code to ensure it meets NZTE's quality, security and privacy standards.

What you'll bring

You'll likely have 4-6 years of commercial software development experience working at enterprise level, be confident delivering production-ready features end-to-end. You're able to work independently, take ownership of your work, and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience in the following or equivalent is required:

  • React
  • Node.js
  • TypeScript / JavaScript
  • Azure cloud environments
  • NoSQL or Graph databases
  • Agile delivery environments
  • Secure software development practices, including authentication, authorisation, vulnerability management, and the secure handling of secrets and customer data
  • AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent
