Intermediate Java(Spring) Developer with Cloud (GCP preferred)
Location: Toronto/Hybrid - 2 weeks onsite (anchor days Tuesday + flexible). 3–4 days onsite possible.
Contract Duration: ASAP to 31 October 2026 (~5 months, possible extension).
Schedule Hours: 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday‑Friday; 37.5 hrs/week.
About the Role
Cloud Engineering team tasked with modernizing the CNAPP initiative, enhancing DevSecOps tooling and CI/CD pipelines across CloudBees Jenkins, Argo Workflow, GitHub Actions, etc. The role supports the unified CI/CD UI built on Spring, requiring container and helm knowledge.
Typical Day
- Champion a customer‑focused culture and deepen client relationships.
- Guide software development and interface with external teams.
- Transfer knowledge to junior engineers.
- Participate in requirement meetings with product, business, and customers.
- Create implementation plans from designs for the team.
- Implement solutions per plans.
- Support architecture evolution and roadmap design.
- Plan and contribute to larger architectural changes.
- Assist in technical requirements analysis and effort estimation.
- Communicate designs to internal and external engineers.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, grooming, retro, demo, & scrum).
- Deliver clear, tested, maintainable code to a shared codebase.
- Update and create documentation for team and customers.
- Consider the bank’s risk appetite and culture in daily activities.
- Maintain high performance and inclusive environment.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of relevant experience.
- 3+ years strong experience with Java.
- 5+ years recent experience with Agile methodology.
- 3+ years recent experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- 3+ years experience with CI/CD.
- 1+ year experience with cloud services: Azure, GCP, or AWS (GCP preferred).
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
- 3+ years experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Golang.
- 3+ years experience with DevOps tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Argo Workflow, GitHub Actions.
- Previous experience with modernization, banking or regulated environment.
Degrees or Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
Selection Process
- 1–2 rounds of interviews.
- First round: 60‑minute technical interview; may include Codility/technical test and video interview.
- Second round: 30‑60 minute in‑person interview (if required).
