Inventory Clerk

The Inventory Clerk maintains clean, safe, and well-organized MRO storerooms in a demanding industrial environment. This role combines hands-on cleaning, inventory organization, and basic data entry to ensure accurate stock levels and efficient material handling. The Inventory Clerk supports daily operations by keeping storerooms compliant with safety standards, assisting with inventory processes, and collaborating with team members to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning of MRO storerooms, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces in a dirty and dusty environment.
  • Organize inventory by categorizing items, labeling shelves, and ensuring proper storage practices to maintain order and accessibility.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining a systematic inventory management process, including tracking and reporting stock levels.
  • Conduct cycle counts and support kitting, shipping, receiving, and rack-and-stack activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to understand their specific needs and preferences regarding storeroom organization and material availability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies while working on-site.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive working relationships with internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Apply a comprehensive understanding of hand tools used in the construction and adjustment of storeroom shelving units.
  • Walk up to 5 miles per day to survey the site and perform walk-through quality inspections of storerooms and related areas.
  • Lift 5075 lbs on a semi-repetitive basis while handling materials, equipment, and inventory items safely.
  • Climb ladders and stairs inside and outside multi-story facilities to access storage areas and perform inspections.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to ensure the workspace and shop floor remain clean, organized, and up to OSHA standards.
  • Contribute to the integrity of inventory data by adhering to Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO) standards and procedures.
  • Support positive leadership by completing tasks on time and aligning work with critical operational requirements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working occasional overtime to meet operational demands and project deadlines.
  • Use basic data entry skills and computer applications to record inventory transactions and generate simple reports.
  • Adhere to all company and customer safety procedures, including proper use of equipment and safe material handling practices.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in cleaning, organizing, or facilities management, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items safely and effectively, including weights of 5075 lbs on a semi-repetitive basis.
  • Ability to walk long distances, up to 5 miles per day, and perform standing, bending, lifting, and moving tasks throughout the shift.
  • Capability to climb ladders and stairs in multi-story facilities to access storage and inspection areas.
  • Comprehensive understanding of hand tools used for constructing and adjusting storeroom shelving units.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, data entry, and reporting.
  • Experience with inventory activities such as cycle counting, kitting, material handling, and shipping and receiving.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to maintain accurate inventory and efficient storeroom operations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Consistent adherence to safety procedures, OSHA standards, and company policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Additional training or certification in facilities management or inventory management is a plus.
  • Experience working in an industrial, warehouse, or non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO) standards and practices.
  • Comfort working in extremely dirty and dusty environments.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime to support operational requirements.

Work Environment

The role is based indoors in a nonclimate-regulated facility where temperatures can vary significantly, requiring warm clothing during colder periods. The position requires regular handling of materials and equipment, use of hand tools for shelving and storage systems, and adherence to OSHA and company safety standards at all times. Appropriate work attire should be durable and suitable for a dusty industrial setting, with additional layers worn as needed for colder conditions.

This is a Contract position based out of Halethorpe, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
