Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Java Architect to lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise applications within a Digital Factory environment. This role is responsible for establishing architecture standards, defining technical direction, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of scalable, cloud-native solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Java ecosystem technologies, cloud architecture, event-driven systems, microservices, and modern software engineering practices while serving as a trusted advisor to both technical and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Define and maintain enterprise application architecture standards, development frameworks, technical roadmaps, and engineering best practices.
- Establish technical direction for projects and ensure alignment with organizational strategy and business objectives.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and engineering teams to create and maintain architecture artifacts, including C4 Model diagrams, system documentation, and integration designs.
- Design scalable, secure, reusable, and high-performing application architectures utilizing microservices and cloud-native patterns.
- Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making across multiple product teams.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and architectural roadmaps.
Software Development & Engineering Excellence
- Provide hands-on leadership in the development of enterprise applications using Java and modern development frameworks.
- Define and enforce software development standards, coding practices, CI/CD processes, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Oversee application modernization efforts, including migration from legacy systems to cloud-native architectures.
- Ensure software quality through code reviews, testing strategies, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor developers, technical leads, and engineering teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Guide teams through troubleshooting complex technical issues and production incidents.
- Support Agile delivery by ensuring EPICs, Features, and User Stories contain sufficient technical detail to drive successful sprint execution.
- Conduct technical training sessions, knowledge-sharing workshops, and architecture reviews.
- Promote transparency regarding project risks, challenges, successes, and lessons learned.
Stakeholder & Business Engagement
- Partner with business leaders, product managers, project managers, architects, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
- Analyze business processes and operational challenges to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and modernization.
- Assess risks, dependencies, and technical constraints while developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Deliver technical presentations, architecture reviews, and executive briefings to leadership and stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on strategic technology initiatives and digital transformation efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of software development experience with at least 5+ years in an Architecture or Technical Leadership role.
