Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Java Architect to lead the modernization and optimization of enterprise Java applications. This role will focus on improving application performance, designing modern Java solutions, and supporting the migration of legacy IBM Assembler code into Java. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java architecture, Spring technologies, object-oriented design, and enterprise application development in large-scale environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Identify and implement performance improvements within enterprise Java applications.
- Analyze existing Java applications and prototype solutions to improve scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Develop technical design documentation for migrating legacy IBM Assembler code to Java.
- Perform code reviews to ensure thread safety, code quality, security, and adherence to development standards.
- Analyze and optimize Spring Batch performance and throughput.
- Design scalable, maintainable, and secure Java-based enterprise solutions.
- Collaborate with development teams to implement architecture best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on enterprise Java development.
- Support Agile software development activities and participate in architecture reviews.
- Document application architecture, technical designs, and development standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 12 years of professional Java development experience.
- Active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI).
- Current Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE).
- Extensive experience designing and developing enterprise Java applications.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Spring Batch.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) and aspect-oriented programming (AOP).
- Experience with JSON and Java annotations.
- Experience reviewing code for performance, security, scalability, and thread safety.
- Experience creating technical architecture and design documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience migrating or modernizing legacy applications.
- Experience running Java applications under Unix System Services (USS).
- Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Java Full Stack Development.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
