About the Job: The Backend Developer will design,develop, test, deploy, and support scalable backend applications andmicroservices. This role requires hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot,REST APIs, relational databases, and cloud technologies.
The developer will work across the software developmentlifecycle, from requirement analysis and technical design throughimplementation, testing, deployment, and production support. The position alsoinvolves collaborating with product, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams todeliver secure, reliable, and high-performing backend solutions.

Position Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, and maintainmicroservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and implement scalable, secure RESTfulAPIs.
- Work extensively with SQL databases and NoSQLdatabases such as CouchDB, MongoDB, Firestore, and Bigtable.
- Deploy, manage, and monitor applications inGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Implement batch processing solutions and datapipeline integrations.
- Ensure application performance, scalability,reliability, and security best practices.
- Contribute to event-driven architectures usingmessaging systems such as Pub/Sub.
- Develop unit and integration tests to ensurecode quality and application stability.
- Troubleshoot production issues, debug complexproblems, and optimize performance in high-traffic systems.
- Participate in code reviews, architecturaldiscussions, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, andArchitecture teams within an Agile environment.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4-5 years of experience in Java development.
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot andmicroservices architecture.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL databases and queryoptimization.
- Experience working with NoSQL databases(CouchDB, MongoDB, Firestore, Bigtable).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (preferablyJenkins).
- Experience with event-driven architectures(Pub/Sub).
- Excellent communication and collaborationskills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with containerization andorchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform(GCP).
- Experience with GraphQL and reactive programming(Spring WebFlux).
- Familiarity with observability and monitoringtools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Exposure to financial services, e-commerce, orlarge-scale data-driven systems.
- Understanding of multi-tenant architectures andhigh-availability system design.
Benefits
Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000 CAD/ year
The final compensation offered will depend on local marketconditions and geographic location, as well as job-related factors such as thecandidate’s knowledge, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, andeducation/training. Compensation may also include additional components such asbenefits, and/or other incentives, where applicable.
