Senior Java Backend Developer
Only qualified Senior Java Backend Developer candidates located near the Mississauga, ON area to be considered due to the position requiring an onsite presence. Required Experience: 8+ years of professional experience in application development or systems analysis with a strong focus on Java backend development. Extensive experience designing and developing scalable, high-performance backend applications. Hands-on experience building distributed data processing systems, ETL pipelines, and real-time streaming solutions. Strong experience with Spring Framework including Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, Spring Security, Hibernate, and JPA. Experience designing and optimizing relational and NoSQL databases. Experience with distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, REST APIs, and gRPC. Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices. Experience leading technical delivery of complex backend initiatives. Experience with Test-Driven Development, unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews.
Technical Skills: Core Java 11, 17, or 21. Advanced multithreading and concurrency. JVM memory management and garbage collection. OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms. Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Flink, Hadoop. ETL, batch processing, stream processing, and messaging systems. Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, Spring Security. Hibernate and JPA. SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle. NoSQL databases including MongoDB, Cassandra, and Redis. Docker and Kubernetes. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI. REST APIs and gRPC. Linux and shell scripting. Cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent systems analysis and architecture design skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership. Ability to work independently in Agile environments. Strong focus on code quality and best practices.
Preferred Experience: Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP managed services. Experience in financial services, banking technology, or enterprise transaction systems. Experience with Unix/Linux environments and network configurations.
