Our client is a large, well‑established enterprise with a strong regional presence and long‑term business stability. The organisation operates complex, mission‑critical systems and places a strong emphasis on engineering quality, scalability, and cross‑border collaboration.
About the Role
This is a senior‑level Java backend role focused on building and maintaining scalable microservices used across core business platforms. You will work closely with regional teams, including stakeholders based in Guangzhou, contributing to the design, development, and deployment of high‑availability backend services running on cloud infrastructure.
The role is based onsite on Hong Kong Island and offers exposure to enterprise‑scale systems and modern backend architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain Java backend applications using Spring Boot and microservices architecture
Build and support high‑volume, distributed systems with a focus on performance and reliability
Deploy and operate backend services on AWS cloud environments
Implement and maintain automated tests, following Test‑Driven Development (TDD) practices
Develop and integrate event‑driven solutions using Kafka
Collaborate closely with cross‑border development teams, including the Guangzhou team
Participate in system design discussions, troubleshooting, and production support activities
Requirements
5–7 years of hands‑on Java backend development experience
Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture
Proven experience deploying and supporting applications on AWS
Solid understanding and practical experience with TDD
Hands‑on experience with Kafka or similar messaging / streaming platforms
Strong communication skills and experience working with cross‑functional teams
Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin; able to collaborate effectively with Mainland China teams
Good to Have
Experience working in large‑scale enterprise environments
Exposure to high‑throughput or mission‑critical backend systems
Experience with system integration across multiple teams or regions
