Job Description:
As a Lead Java Cloud Developer, you will provide technical leadership for the design, development, and delivery of enterprise cloud-native applications. You will lead Agile teams, establish development best practices, mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions across Java and cloud platforms. This role requires hands-on coding experience, technical leadership, system design expertise, and the ability to guide teams through the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-scale, multi-platform application systems.
- Serve as the technical lead for Agile development teams supporting Java and cloud-based applications.
- Develop and support applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud technologies.
- Create and review high-level design documents, technical specifications, architecture documents, and solution roadmaps.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, security requirements, and development best practices.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers while providing technical guidance across the team.
- Lead Proof-of-Concept (POC) initiatives to establish reusable frameworks, standards, and development patterns.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, SMEs, architects, testers, and offshore teams to deliver successful solutions.
- Configure and support CI/CD pipelines using Bamboo, Jenkins, GitHub, Git, and related DevOps tools.
- Champion application security, performance optimization, resiliency, scalability, and availability requirements.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and technical solution discussions.
- Write and maintain unit tests and support test-driven or behavior-driven development practices.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of professional software development experience.
- 3-5 years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native application development.
- Strong experience designing enterprise applications and translating architecture into detailed technical solutions.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and mentoring software developers.
- Experience working across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Strong understanding of application security, resiliency, scalability, performance, and non-functional requirements.
- Experience with PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry), cloud deployment models, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience with Bamboo, Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence, Git, and CI/CD pipeline development.
- Knowledge of Angular or other modern frontend technologies is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Experience coordinating with distributed teams, stakeholders, architects, and business partners in fast-paced Agile environments.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $60.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
