Java Consultant — Brussels
A leading professional services firm is looking for a Java Technical Analyst to combine hands-on development with technical leadership on a legacy modernisation programme.
What you'll do:
- Lead Java modernisation initiatives, including JBoss/WildFly upgrades, Spring Boot migrations (Spring 5→6, javax→jakarta), and RichFaces to PrimeFaces transitions
- Architect scalable, secure Java solutions and define technical standards for the delivery team
- Manage and mentor nearshore/offshore Java developers; conduct code reviews and establish quality gates
- Oversee CI/CD pipeline integration and coordinate integration of code produced by delivery centres
- Note: this is legacy migration work, not greenfield development
What you'll bring:
- 4+ years of professional Java development experience
- Proven experience managing distributed (nearshore/offshore) development teams
- Strong command of Spring ecosystem, JPA/Hibernate, and JBoss/WildFly
- Hands-on experience with javax→jakarta namespace migrations and OpenRewrite or similar tooling
- Experience in the banking sector is an asset
- Fluent in Dutch and English (French is a plus); ability to read code commented in NL/FR
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science or equivalent
