Senior Java Developer (Capital Market)

Full-time

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office (Downtown) at a minimum 4 days per week subject to change at any time.

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with 5+ years of experience in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Cloud, and DevOps technologies. The role involves designing, developing, deploying, and supporting scalable cloud native applications, API services, integration platforms, and rules-based processing engines within an enterprise environment.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities.

Design, develop, and support Java/Spring Boot microservices.

. Build and maintain REST APIs and event driven services.

. Develop XML/JSON transformation and integration solutions.

. Design and implement configurable business rules and processing engines.

. Deploy and support cloud native applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.

. Participate in architecture, design, code reviews, testing, and production support.

. Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, QA, and DevOps teams.

. Contribute to application scalability, resiliency, security, and observability.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Required Skills & Experience

  • . 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
  • . Strong experience with:
    • o Java 8+, Spring Boot, Spring Framework
    • o REST APIs and Microservices Architecture
    • o Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
    • o Object Oriented Design, Design Patterns, Data Structures & Algorithms
    • o XML, JSON, XSD, and API integrations
    • o Kafka or other messaging/event streaming platforms
    • o Git, JIRA, TeamCity, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
  • Cloud & DevOps Skills.
  • Hands on experience with:
    • o Docker containerization
    • o Kubernetes orchestration (AKS/EKS/OpenShift preferred)
    • o CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
    • o Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools
    • o Linux administration and Shell scripting
    • o Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm preferred)
    • o Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting applications in cloud and Kubernetes environments.
  • . Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, App Insights, or Splunk.
  • Preferred Skills. Experience with:
    • o Drools, DMN, or Rules Engines
    • o XSLT, XML transformation frameworks, and canonical/common data models
    • o Spring Cloud ecosystem
    • o Redis and distributed caching
    • o Enterprise integration patterns and workflow orchestration
  • . Exposure to Financial Services, Capital Markets, or Banking domains.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

the company is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
