Java Developer (Core Java, Java 17 and above, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Kafka, MongoDB) Location and Employment
Toronto, ON – Hybrid (4 days in office). Contract length: 12 months. Responsibilities
Design and deploy RESTful APIs and microservices on cloud and containerized platforms such as AWS and OpenShift/Kubernetes. Translate complex business workflows, including FIX protocols for trading and high‑throughput payment processing, into functional code, acting as a bridge between business analysts, quantitative researchers and software engineers. Optimize system performance by developing multi‑threaded, real‑time transaction processing code and reducing latency across distributed banking systems. Manage data flows using streaming platforms and message queues such as Apache Kafka and IBM MQ. Participate in Agile teams, following TDD practices, and build CI/CD pipelines with Maven and Jenkins, while utilizing AI‑augmented coding assistants. Qualifications
8–10 years of professional development experience with Java and related technologies. Proficiency in Core Java, Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Kafka, MongoDB. Experience with cloud services and container orchestration (AWS, OpenShift, Kubernetes). Strong understanding of networking, messaging, and transaction processing principles.
