DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
The Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds is seeking a Java Developer IV to develop and support Java and JavaScript web applications. The consultant will evaluate requirements and implement enhancements within existing applications while also providing maintenance and production support. For new applications, the developer will work as part of an Agile team under the direction of an application architect.
This is a hands-on coding role involving legacy applications, commercial off-the-shelf solutions, and new custom development. The team is implementing modern technologies and frameworks such as Spring Boot and ReactJS while maintaining security, quality assurance, and State software-development-lifecycle standards.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development and Support: Develop assigned application code and provide development support for new and existing software products, including legacy applications, COTS solutions, and custom applications.
Technical Evaluation: Evaluate requirements, determine appropriate technical approaches, and implement enhancements and fixes in Java and JavaScript web applications.
Code Quality: Participate as both a developer and code reviewer, incorporate security and quality-assurance practices into development work, and implement unit tests.
Prototyping and Modernization: Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept applications, and help implement modern frameworks, tools, and approaches within the SDLC.
Agile Delivery: Follow SDLC guidelines, actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, and collaborate with team members throughout delivery.
Business and QA Collaboration: Work with business representatives to define and refine requirements and with quality-assurance team members to create and deliver testable software.
