- JUnit; Selenium is not required
- AI-assisted development tools such as Amazon Q or Kiro
- Front-end experience is beneficial but not required; the position is predominantly back-end
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Complete assigned features and user stories within each sprint.
- Build production-ready, reliable Java/Spring Boot microservices.
- Work extensively with Kubernetes and AWS.
- Develop unit and integration tests within the sprint.
- Use approved AI development tools to improve software-engineering delivery.
- Partner with technical leads to clarify requirements and identify missing details.
- Deliver complete business functionality rather than partial development work.
Assessment and Interviews
- A Glider or similar technical assessment is required.
- AI assistance should be disabled during the assessment.
- Assessment priorities:
- Java and Spring Boot
- Kubernetes
- AWS
- EKS/containerization
- SQL and NoSQL
- Round 1: 90-minute virtual Teams interview, primarily individual and likely coding-focused.
- Round 2: Up to two hours onsite, potentially including a use case, technical evaluation, team-fit discussion, and panel participation.
Ideal Candidate
A senior back-end engineer who is currently hands-on with Java 17+, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, AWS, EKS, microservices, SQL/NoSQL, and automated testing. The candidate must be comfortable working onsite full-time and completing a rigorous technical assessment without AI assistance.
Must Have Qualifications: 6+ years of related software engineering or technology delivery experience. Hands-on expertise with AWS, Java, and microservices architecture is required. Some hands-on use of AI for software engineering practices is also required. Experience in the mortgage industry is a plus.
