We're looking for an SC Cleared Software Engineer (or someone eligible to obtain SC Clearance) to join a collaborative Agile team developing cutting-edge cloud-based Geospatial software . This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies, contributing to the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable, high-performance services.
This is a 6-month rolling contract with a hybrid working model, requiring 2-3 days per week onsite in Newcastle .
The RoleAs a Software Engineer, you'll be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, working within a supportive Agile Scrum environment to deliver innovative cloud-native solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable Java applications.
- Build cloud-based services using modern development practices.
- Write unit and automated tests to ensure software quality.
- Participate in design and code reviews, promoting best practices for security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Produce clear technical documentation and share knowledge across the team.
- Contribute to sprint planning, estimations, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
- Collaborate closely with the wider Scrum team to deliver sprint commitments.
- Champion continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
Essential Skills
- Strong commercial experience with Java
- Experience developing cloud-based services
- Unit testing experience
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams
Desirable Skills
- DevSecOps tools such as Tekton, ArgoCD, and SonarQube
- Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes
- Quarkus Framework
- Front-end development using Angular
Security Clearance
Candidates must hold active SC Clearance or be eligible and willing to undergo SC Clearance .
