Senior Java Microservices Developer (KAFKA Developer)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Java/JEE Developer to design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices supporting a large-scale electronic filing platform. The selected candidate will develop microservices using Spring Boot, Kafka, JAX-RS Services, JPA/Hibernate, and Red Hat OpenShift. Responsibilities include performing unit and integration testing, participating in code reviews, troubleshooting production issues, and maintaining Java components. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java/JEE microservices, event-driven architectures, containerized applications, and modern software development practices.
Primary Duties
- Design and develop Java/JEE components using Kafka, Spring REST Services, and Spring Boot (70%)
- Perform unit and development-level integration testing as needed (20%)
- Perform code maintenance to support testing activities, customer testing, and production issue resolution (10%)
Required Skills / Experience
- Java/JEE microservices development using Spring REST and Spring Boot 8 years
- Experience integrating Kafka for event-driven workflows 4 years
- Kafka Administration 2 years
- Experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code 1 year
- Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 years
- Experience developing automated unit tests using JUnit 4 years
- Experience using Eclipse, Spring Tool Suite (STS), or JBoss Studio 4 years
- Experience using GitHub and Jira 3 years
- Oracle Exadata 2 years
Preferred Skills
- CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Agile methodologies and Scrum Master experience
- Maven

Security Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens (no H-1B visa holders) with a minimum of three (3) years of U.S. residency as a Permanent Resident.
- Active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI/58C Tier 2RS) is required at the time of submission.
- Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizenship is required for the MBI/58C Tier 2RS.
- An IRS Full Background Investigation (FBI) clearance is required to retain the position.
An active IRS MBI is required to be submitted for consideration for this position.
